5 Ways to Keep Your Home Warm When the Heat Goes Out

On a freezing winter day or night, there’s nothing we appreciate more than a working heating system. But what if the power goes out, or the furnace suddenly fails? The cold can be especially difficult for small children or elderly family members, so it’s essential to take the necessary measures to keep your system maintained so your home will remain warm and comfortable all winter long. Econoair Heating & Cooling, your trusted expert in furnace and air conditioner installation, shares some handy tips below.

Conserve heat in your living spaces. You can mitigate heat loss by preventing drafts from entering your home. This means closing all windows and drapes securely. Make sure to seal your doorways, as well. Roll up towels and place them at the base of exterior doors. You can also hang blankets over these doors. Unused rooms should be closed off so the heat doesn’t dissipate into these areas.

Use your fireplace. If you have a fireplace in your home, then now is the perfect time to utilize it! By keeping a fire going, you can keep at least one room in your house nice and toasty. Family members who are especially sensitive to the cold can move into this room temporarily.

Open the curtains on south-facing windows on sunny winter days. Letting the sun in helps bring a bit of natural light and heat into your home. If it’s not sunny, just leave them closed.

Invest in a heating system replacement. If your gas furnace is already old and failing, turn to Econoair Heating & Cooling for a prompt replacement. We offer a variety of gas furnaces and heat pumps from Carrier and Trane. With our skills and experience, we can install your new heating system quickly and efficiently so you can enjoy a warmer, more comfortable home this winter.

Keep the number of your local heating company handy. If the issue isn’t a power outage, call a trusted expert in boiler installation and repair like Econoair Heating & Cooling. We’ll inspect your system thoroughly and perform the necessary repair work to bring heat back into your living spaces.
